Getting to Coromandel You have several options.
By road, Coromandel town is approximately 2.5 Hrs from Auckland, Hamilton or Tauranga.
Intercity Coachlines have a weekly Bus service from Auckland and Thames. A regular ferry service plies the Firth of Thames between Auckland and Coromandel, stopping at Waiheke Island en route - for booking details call free phone: 0800 888 006 |
The Coast road is a highlight in itself The beautiful pohutukawa
clad coast road takes you on a picturesque one hour's drive from Thames to Coromandel Town.
Leaving the coast, you climb to the top of the Kereta hill,
for stunning views of the many islands that dot the coast to the North.
On a clear evening you'll be able to see the lights of Auckland
(and even the Sky Tower) across the Hauraki Gulf.
From there you skirt the Manaia and Coromandel harbours,
before arriving in Coromandel Town itself.

Directions our entry is about 1Km from the centre of Coromandel Town
as you drive out of town towards Colville. You'll see our large blue and orange sign on the right,
just past the old Coromandel Hotel - an historic pub from the gold mining days.
